Raldani was born to Shakik (father) and Esholdku (mother) Kaluma. Shakik, a male Mirialan, was a spy for the Republic in his younger years. After infiltrating the Empire for a couple of years, they began to catch onto him, so he went back to the Republic only to find that they didn’t need him anymore due to some younger hotshot coming in and taking his spot. So, he “retired” and settled down on Tatooine where he met Esholdku, a beautiful female Mirialan who worked at a local cantina in Anchorhead.
Shortly thereafter, Shakik and Esholdku discovered that he’d accidentally gotten her pregnant during what was supposed to be a one-night stand, and so, because of this accidental child, they decided to get married to save Esholdku’s reputation. Not long after that, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl whom they named Raldani. They hadn’t planned on having a child, but it had happened and now they were married. Within a couple years, Raldani has a baby sister, who was planned and is now the pride and joy of the family, leaving Raldani to half fend for herself, being the “accident” of the family and a shameful memory to her parents about the circumstances surrounding her conception.
Over the next 5 years, Shakik and Esholdku had 4 more children. This time, all boys with the last two being twins. It wasn’t easy for the two adults to provide for their growing family. Especially since Esholdku was still working at the same cantina and Shakik was taking odds and ends jobs in Anchorhead. As Raldani grew, she noted the arguments her parents had on a nearly daily basis. Partially due to their dwindling finances and partly because they’d never intended to get married, until Raldani came along, so they never truly loved each other.
By the time Raldani was 10 years old, she had 5, planned, younger siblings and was the one who was always expected to give up some or all of her food so that her younger siblings could eat. As time passed, it became more evident that her role in the family was less that of child or sibling, and more of a convenience. The loveless marriage, and the lack of income was enough to strain even the most normal of circumstances, and people, but this level of pressure was too much for one young lady and would eventually weigh on her to the point she would finally just leave behind what little she had for her siblings, and leave home for good. She just could not take the penniless and heartless environment anymore. If she was going to be unloved, at least she would make sure she never had to worry about money again.
When she was about 11 years old, she got tired of being hungry, and decided to swipe some fruit from a local vendor when they weren’t watching. She nearly got caught, but managed to slip away, with the vendor not knowing it was her. In the meantime, the few kids she had become “friends” with, started to laugh at her when her father was fired from yet another job. So, between her home life and her “friends” turning into bullies, she was fed up and started stealing more than just food. Soon enough, she had a little stash of stuff that she had stolen, and she used this stash to start making a few credits here and there, saying that she “found” these items, and selling them to people who needed them. But she had a hard time hiding her stash of items and credits from her parents. But by the time she was in her teens, she had enough credits to get out. During those few short years, though, she had used her skills to steal little bits of food for her little siblings until she finally decided it was time for her to leave.
After finally running away at the tender age of 16, Raldani would leave home and put her street skills to good use. After having about 5 years of experience, Raldani was on her own and putting those thieving skills to the test. In a failed attempt to pickpocket a brooding beast of a man in fancy gear, she was given a choice to join his crew or suffer some consequences. Reluctantly, Raldani obeyed Zimon Falstik, a known Rishan pirate and smuggler for the Red Blade Runners. She quickly absorbed their world as her old life began to fade into a distant memory. It only took a few years of working for the man before he saw her talents and put her in charge of more important runs, and gave her a crew of 3 to help support her runs.
When she was 21, she was sent on a job back to Tatooine. Not long after landing, she decided to take a trip back to her childhood home and see her family, even though they hadn’t cared for her previously. Upon arriving, she found the place ransacked, and the bodies of not just her parents, but all of her younger siblings too, lying on the floor of their home. Sure, she’d seen death before, but the scene before her was a lot for her to handle. She felt almost responsible for their deaths, wondering if they’d be alive if she hadn’t left home. Soon, she was met by one of their neighbors, who explained that the Empire had come in search of her father and how they had massacred many families in the area. This angered Raldani, knowing that her father had been a spy for the Republic at one time, and that now he was dead because the Republic did nothing to help. That was the moment when she decided that she would never side with either the Republic or the Empire after that.
Before she left Tatooine, she went for a walk through Anchorhead and bumped into a 16 year old human girl who was on her way to work. After finding out that “work” for the young girl was at the same Cantina her own mother had worked at, she decided to help the girl, who’s name was Maelri Tessar. After helping the teenager to gather up her things, she snuck Mae onto her ship and made a “pit-stop” at the Republic fleet to drop her off. Knowing she’d at least be a little safer in the hands of the Republic than the Empire, Raldani helped her sneak off the ship and hide within the fleet before giving her a few extra credits and leaving to go back to Rishi.
Once she got back to Rishi, she put all of her anger into beginning the process of tracking down the person who gave the go-ahead to track down and kill her family. For the next two years, she spent all her free time learning how to use explosive rounds, setting up explosives, and overall using pyrotechnics. Slowly, she tracked down and found several of the Imperial soldiers who had been involved and took them out one by one. Each time leaving their burnt corpses lying next to a small street painting of a phoenix. This eventually let to her being called “The Phoenix” by Imperials. During each job she took, she would wear armor designed to protect herself from not only the flames, but also to protect her identity.
During another solo run to the Outer Rim a couple years later, Raldani found herself in hot pursuit by an Imperial fighter who was trying to catch up to her after a heist went bad on the Imperial Fleet. As she sped toward Balmorra to hide out with the Resistance, her ship took damage, and she crashed rather hastily into the planet. Combat Medic Buv’Xan’Dar (“Doc”), was in his tent talking to his C.O. via holo when the ship skated over top of his tent and slammed into the trees 200 yards behind his camp. He quickly snagged his bag and ran to the wreckage. Expecting to find only corpses, he heard coughing coming from the cockpit area, and upon investigation discovered Raldani badly injured and just about half out of it. He scanned her, injected her with a Kolto pen, and stabilized her just enough to scoop her up and carry her from the wreckage. They would spend the next few days getting to know one another before it was time for her to collect her cargo and hop another flight back to Rishi. Missing each other by mere moments in the space port, she waited as long as she could for him to come say goodbye, but his taxi just didn’t make it on time, and she departed not knowing he was standing in the hangar as she lifted off and returned home.
Just a year later, Raldani was sent out on yet another solo job. The job itself was uneventful, but when she got back, she found the place to be under attack from a band of pirates whose bad side they managed to get on. Managing to hide behind a bunch of crates, Raldani knew she wouldn’t be able to do anything as the pirates massacred even the most elite of the crew. By the time they were done ransacking the place, only 5 of the originally very large crew had managed to survive. One was Raldani, and another was the boss. Unfortunately, it was at this point that their operations slowed and Raldani was forced to strike out on her own with only a couple of droids as her 'crew'.
After a couple years she found her way to the Blaster’s Bastion on Nar Shaddaa, where she met Captain Drac and Tirvi. The first non-droid friends she would have since striking out on her own. This led to her participation in a train heist, which ended in an explosive round blowing up in her face and giving her a permanent scar and decreased eyesight in one eye. Finally pulling out her father’s old eyepatch, Raldani practiced day and night until her blaster skills were back on par with what they had been prior to the heist.
She eventually reunited with both Maelri and Doc, both of which were now Jedi for the Commonwealth, and developed new alliances with other smugglers, a bounty hunter, a sith, and the Commonwealth itself. With her connections growing, Raldani would secretly begin preparations to search out someone she had been tracking for years. The call of The Phoenix would soon ring out through the Empire once again.
